Day 6 & 7
On Wednesday Chris Q officially joined the bus, we left Estes Park and headed to Boulder. The originally plan was to rock climb, hot air balloon and maybe enjoy some of the delicious beer Boulder has to offer. A girl I had met up in DC, Kristen, a few months ago lives in Boulder and was nice enough to let us park in front of her house. Well, the weather had other plans. Half rain half snow for 2 days straight limited the options we had in Boulder. So instead we went to a bunch of micro-breweries and sampled a bunch of the fine beer Boulder has to offer. Mercedes and I got distracted from the group (what else is new) and found ourselves in a Candy Store eating fudge watching Willy Wanka and the Chocolate factory. The group made a lots of new friends also just escaping the rain. Old camp buddys of Sean’s were there too, it made for a really great night of riding a mechanical bull, skeet ball, and just enjoying each other’s companies.
The next day the weather was just as gross. So we played ping-pong at Kristen’s and totally chilled out. The other Chilean Bound kidos and I took care of necessary work visas; which included getting HIV tested and finger printed. After the many adventures the previous days it was really nice to rest. Catch up on reading and sleep and energies. Try as we might to get Kristen to join us on the bus trip, she declined. Then we had to drop Mercedes off at the airport, putting us back at 5 on the bus as we headed down to Colorado Springs.
The drive was pretty, but still a mix of rain/snow and sun. We met old friends of Andrew’s from church and they showed us a bit of the town and let us crash in their basement. Most of us were out by 10pm… mmmmm.
